CTET 2018 Notification

Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2017 is expected to be held in the month of February and candidates can apply online for CTET 2017 through the official website. Central Government schools consider the Central Teacher Eligibility Test score as the eligibility criterion for teachers recruitment.

CBSE will release the official Notification for Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 in the month of November 2017 for Recruitment of teachers for classes 1st to 8th. The Exam is conducted twice in a year and the first exam is to be held in the month of February 2018. Selection for these posts is purely based on the performance in written exam and Interview.

Candidates can apply online for Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 through the official website. The candidate should fill all the details required for filling the Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 Online Form and upload their scanned images of latest photograph & signature.

CTET Exam 2018 Eligibility Criterion

Interested Candidates who want to Apply for CTET 2017 must fulfill the Eligibility criterion specified by Central Board of Secondary Education.

Minimum Educational Qualification for Class 1st to 5th: 
  • At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary or equivalent and/or in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary or equivalent and/or in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Graduation and/or in final year of two years Diploma in Elementary Education.

Minimum Educational Qualification for Class 6th to 8th: 
  • Graduation and/or in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • At least 50% marks in Graduation and/or in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary or equivalent and/or in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary or equivalent and/or in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • At least 50% marks in Graduation and/or in 1-year B.Ed.

Ques 1:What is teacher eligibility test?
Answer:Teacher eligibility test is a gateway to bring uniformity in the standard of teachers appointed to provide quality education to students in school. This was for the first time started in 2011 by the central government in the form of CTET as a mandatory requirement for anyone willing to teach in Center aided schools. Thereafter the states have started conducting the examination for state aided schools. Some of the private schools have also started considering Teacher Eligibility Test as a major eligibility criterion in the recruitment process.

Ques 4: What is the applicability of CTET?
Answer:l The CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT's of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and NCT of Delhi. l CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, who may exercise the option of considering the CTET. l Schools owned and managed by the State Government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.

Ques 5: What is the validity period of CTET certificate?
Answer: The Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be 7 years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.

Ques 6: Is there any restriction on the number of attempts of CTET exam?
Answer: There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score

Ques 8:What is the duration given for online registration of CTET form?
Answer:The online registration opens usually 4 months before the examination date and lasts up to 1 month.

Answer:l The candidates appearing in CTET will be issued Marks Statement. The Candidates securing 60% and above marks will be issued Eligibility Certificate. l School Managements (Government, Local bodies, Government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to person belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation policy. l Qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
